Here are some FAQ's that will give you an idea about how Desert Moon can best serve you when it comes to music lessons in El Paso.

1. How does your program work?

Music students come to Desert Moon once a week for one hour. The music lesson consists of 30 minutes of private instruction in a one-on-one setting with the instructor followed by 30 minutes in a music theory lab. In the private lesson, the student will be guided through an established curriculum on his/her chosen instrument. The teacher's role is to teach proper technique, introduce new material in a logical sequence and to ensure that the student is practicing effectively at home.  In the theory lab, the students will be taken through a graded course called Theory Time, which is designed to teach the "science" of music. Topics include note reading, rhythm, harmony and ear training. The books are graded from kindergarten through 12th grade and are appropriate for students of all instruments.

(guitar lessons, piano lessons, voice lessons and violin lessons)

2. What about adults or advanced students?

If you are an adult who just wants a relaxing outlet or who wants to revisit an instrument you played as a child, our teachers are ready to design an individualized course to suit your particular goals. We have many adults taking  guitar lessons, piano lessons and voice  who have rediscovered their love for the instrument. For advanced players who are on a professional track or are bound for music study in college, our teachers will also acommodate you, either through extra lessons or longer lesson times.

3. Who are the teachers at Desert Moon?

Our teachers all have extensive experience and/or degrees in music. We will pair all new students with the teacher we feel will serve them best. Students taking guitar lessons will be matched with a teacher who excels in the style in which they are interested. All teachers at Desert Moon are skilled at teaching beginners through advanced players.

. 4. At what age can my child start learning.....?

Every child is different and we have seen students of all ages succeed in most instruments. Here are some general guidelines that seem to be the ages at which most children are mentally and physically ready to play various instruments.

guitar lessons:6-7   Piano lessons:4-6(depending on method used)   Voice lessons:11 (younger is possible with audition)   Drum lessons:8   Violin lessons:6

5. How much does it cost to take music lessons?

Tuition at Desert Moon is $85 per month for the course described above. Classes are paid for monthly and there are no long-term contracts or registration fees. Some teachers charge more depending on qualifications or credentials. Please call for details.
